Indian Railway 4-8-2 Locomotives in India

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class unknown (Locobase 6367)

Data from [link], a reprint of the Vulcan magazine for Spring 1950. The locomotives were fitted with Timken roller bearings on all axles. These were clearly mixed-traffic locomotives that were not overendowed with superheat, but with a boiler of considerable capacity. They were similar to the 246 class supplied to the "Gold Coast" (Ghana) in 1949 and had many of the features found in the Tasmanian Railway engines of the same vintage.
