Imperial Government of Persia 2-6-0 Locomotives in Iran

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 300 (Locobase 15473)

Data from DeGolyer, Volume 79, pp. 657+. See also "The First Baldwin Locomotives for Persia", Baldwin Magazine, Volume 10 , No 4 (), p. 49.

Simple little Moguls with few extra appurtenances, although 8" (203 mm) piston valves admitted steam to the cylinders.

Road conditions consisted of 1/2% grades, gentle curves of 9.6 degrees (radii of 180 metres/591 feet), and 70 lb/yard (35 kg/metre) rail. Baldwin Magazine's report emphasized the need for speedy delivery as the customer specified a completion time of ten weeks "and the four locomotives were completed, dismantled and boxed for shipment to Bandar Shahpour well within the time limit."
