Sligo, Leitrim & Northern Counties 0-4-0 Locomotives in Ireland

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class Faughaballah (Locobase 10319)

Data from "The Sligo, Leitrim, and Northern Counties Ry," The Locomotive Magazine, Vol VIII (9 May 1903), pp. 335. Works number was 178.

"Clear the way!" says the English translation of this locomotive's Gaelic name, and one supposes this bulky little saddle-tanker did just that. It's not clear what its original duties might have been on the SL & NC, although it was likely a contractor's engine, but Faughaballah's latter days were spent on light work and ballasting, according to the LM's author.
