Class 23 (Locobase 10378)

Data from "Recent Belfast & County Down Ry Locomotives," The Locomotive Magazine, Vol IX (26 September 1903), p. 186. Works numbers were 3511-3513.

Stubby von Borries-compound six-wheelers that operated as the standard express engines, especially in the summer between Belfast and Newcastle. They ran non-stop over the 37 1/2 miles "...in an hour or less."

The author of the above article commented on their "hansome[r] and well-proportioned appearance." One other -- 6 -- ran as a simple-expansion locomotive. See Locobase 10376.


Class 6 (Locobase 10376)

After Beyer, Peacock delivered a trio of von Borries-compound 4-couple six-wheelers, the B & CDR took delivery of one more arranged as a simple-expansion locomotive.
