Castlederg & Victoria Bridge Tramway 2-6-0 Locomotives in Ireland

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class unknown (Locobase 5083)

Data from [link]. . (July 2002) and R M Livesey, "Rolling-Stock on the Principal Irish Narrow-Gauge Railways", Engineering, Volume 94, (2 August 1912), pp. 169-176, table on p. 175. Works number was 698 in 1904.

This engine had two lifetimes, one as a 2-6-0T for the C&VB and one as a 2-6-2T on the Clogher Valley Railway. As a 2-6-0T, the engine had similar power dimensions to the CVR's 0-4-2Ts and the opportunity to put more of the engine's weight on the drivers may have played a role in the conversion. After the modifications at the Aughnacloy Shops, however, the engine ran only five more years until the line closed. It was then scrapped.
