Midland 4-4-0 Locomotives in Ireland

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class unknown (Locobase 2763)

Data from "Superheater Loco. for the Midlant Ry, Northern Counties Committee", Locomotive Magazine, Volume XX [20] (14 November 1914), p. 282

Superheated simple-expansion engines of a surprisingly dated look for the year. Still, they had some interesting features including a great deal of superheater area for the relatively small boiler. Designed by Bowman Malcolm, Locomotive Superintendent and Engineer of NCC's Belfast shed.

The pair proved a useful size and operated into the 1930s.
