4-4-2 Steam Locomotives in Ireland

Sligo, Leitrim & Northern Counties

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class Erne (Locobase 10320)

Data from "The Sligo, Leitrim, and Northern Counties Ry," The Locomotive Magazine, Vol VIII (9 May 1903), pp. 335. Works number was 178. Boiler pressure is an estimate.

Erne's layout might be described as "Atlantic tank", but that would be quite misleading. The trailing axle supported the small coal bunker behind the cab rather than the firebox. Indeed, the latter rode between the coupled axles.
