Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class unknown (Locobase 15551)

Data from Dr. R. Sanzin, "Die Lokomotiven auf der Intertionalen Austellung in Mailand 1906, 32. 3/3 gekuppelte Verschiebelokomotive der Italienischen Staatsbahnen ...", Zeitschrift des Oesterreichischen Ingenieur- und Architeckten-Vereines, Vol LIX, Nr. 13 (29 March 1907), p. 226-227. See also table titled "Versuch mit Heissdampf-Lokomotiven" (p 183) and discussion in "HeissdampfLokomotives", Organ fnr die fortschritte des eisenbahnwesens in technischer Beziehung, Vol XLIII, 9 (1906), pp. 182-184.

Dr Sanzin stated that this locomotive continued the experimentation with the Pielock superheater, which was a separate unit in the boiler that measured 1.1 meters (3.6 feet) long and 1,175 mm (46.25") in diameter.; see Locobase 13565 for a detailed description of this unit. The six-coupled also used an early poppet valve gear.

The Pielock design couldn't compete with Schmidt's flue-and-header system and was soon removed.
