Data from Ferrovie Dell' Alta Italia, Album Delle Locomotive (Torino, 1o Luglio 1876), T44. (For roster details, see Josef Pospichal's Lokstatistik at [], last accessed 15 August 2019.) Works numbers were 751-752 in 1849.
This pair were among the earliest six-coupled locomotives in Italy. Under the long boiler, the front driving axle was spaced 1.9 metres (6 ft 3 in) ahead of the middle axle, 300 mm (11.84 in) further apart than the 1.6 m between the second and third. A classic haystack firebox and dome, which left the tall safety-valve stand alone in the middle of the boiler.
After two decades or so of service, both had been scrapped by the SF Alta Italia by 1873.
Locobase found an inconsistencies between the given values for the tube diameters, tube lengths, and for the evaporative heating surface area given as 82.2 sq m. The EHS value shown in Locobase's specs is composed of the firebox heating surface area given in the diagram and the tube heating surface area calculated from the stated tube length, external tube diameter, and count.
Data from Ferrovie Dell' Alta Italia, Album Delle Locomotive (Torino, 1o Luglio 1876), T49. (For roster details, see Josef Pospichal's Lokstatistik at [], last accessed 15 August 2019.) Works numbers were 1418-1426 in 1862.
Stephensons delivered typical long-boilers to the Piedmont. Under the long boiler, the front driving axle was spaced 2.08 metres (6 ft 10 in) ahead of the middle axle, 762 mm (36 in) further apart than the 1.32 metres (4 ft 4 in) between the second and third. For their time, these six-coupleds had relatively large grates
Although the class was taken into the Stato Ferrovie dell'Alta Italia (SFAI) in 1865, but were scrapped before the Redes were set up in 1885.
Locobase found an inconsistencies between the given values for the tube diameters, tube lengths, and for the evaporative heating surface area given as 96.0 sq m. The EHS value shown in Locobase's specs is composed of the firebox heating surface area given in the diagram and the tube heating surface area calculated from the stated tube length, external tube diameter, and count.
