Twin (dos a dos) locomotive design building on the Turin-Genoa experience. They had saddle tanks over the boilers.
Locobase adopts the Jury's data where they differ because it was contemporary with the adoption of this design. Each boiler's heating surface was 71.62 sq m (771 sq ft), not including a firebox area of 7.74 sq m (83.3 sq ft).
The jury acknowledges that there are certain difficulties in operating two locomotives coupled together, but finds that as the design placed the engineers back to back, the men were better able to communicate.
The report refers to the Turin-Genoa predecessor and notes that both were designed to handle 3 1/2% grades.
