Kenongo Sugar Factory

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class unknown (Locobase 14665)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University, Vol 60, pp. 408. Works number was 54741 in January 1921.

The Nederlandsche Maatschappij Voor Havenwerken (Royal Netherlands Harbour Works) ordered this tank and apparently intended to exhibit it, yet it was delivered to this sugar factory in eastern Java. (The town was Wlingi, southwest of Surabaya.)

Fitted with a Rushton improved cabbage stack, the Kenongo engine trailed a "fuel car" that carried two tons of coal. The specs state that the driving and tender wheels were "to be set 25" [635 mm] between inside of tires," which appears to have been the actual rail gauge.
