South Manchuria - Chosen 4-6-2 Locomotives in Korea

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 901 (Locobase 13138)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University, Volume 60, p. 127. Works numbers were 54135 in November 1920, 54198-54208 in December.

Following the SM main-line Pacifics of the 900 class into service, these were based on the Chosen lines and had more cylinder volume, a lower boiler pressure, a larger grate, but smaller firebox with 18.3 sq ft of arch tubes. The Chosen engines also had a longer engine wheelbase, but a smaller tender.
