Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 504 (Locobase 9966)

Data from JP Crozet's Franco-Ethiopian Railway site, [link], last accessed on 21 February 2009; and A[rthur] E[dward] Durrant, Garratt Locomotives of the World (revised edition) (Newton Abbott, UK: David & Charles, 1981), pp 103-104. Ansaldo works numbers 1374-1376.

The three Libyan Garratts were diverted from an order of 6 originally intended for Ethipia (see Locobase 506). This entry describes the three that were diverted to Libya. One of them went down with its ship in the Mediterranean. Durrant wrote that the other two "were so badly damaged by bombing that they were scrapped in 1945.
