Federated Malay States Railways 2-6-0 Locomotives in Malaya

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class M 95 (Locobase 3235)

Data from "Locomotives for Federated Malay States Railways," Railway Age Gazette, Volume 71, No 3 (16 July 1921), pp. 119-120. See also DeGolyer, Vol 63, pp. 160+. Works numbers were 54587-54596 in March 1921.

After the success of the twelvePacifics supplied by Baldwin in 1919, these Moguls and ten tank switchers (Locobase 14390) were procured in 1920-1921. The 2-6-0s were able to burn either coal or wood.

Again, an important selling point was said to be the speed of delivery. The 2-6-0s faced 2 1/2% grades and 16-deg curves.
