Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class Steam motor (Locobase 10408)

Data from "Steam Rail Motor Coaches," The Locomotive Magazine, Vol XIII (17 November 1907), p. 206.

It must have made a good deal of sense to buy one of these integrated steam motor coaches for the 120 miles (193 km) of this Indian Ocean island's railway. The detachable motor section looked like a overly simplified diagram of a steam locomotive. All the parts were there, but they were squeezed into about eight feet (2.44 metres) of length; the engine end was meant to run ahead of the coach. The coach held 10 first-class and 30 third-class seats.
