Unidos de Yucatan 4-4-2 Locomotives in Mexico

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class Union (Locobase 11538)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University Volume 26, p. 142. Works number was 23735 in February 1904.

One can only suppose that this was the prestige locomotive for the FCUdeY in the early years of the 20th Century. It was the only Atlantic.A delivery detail notes that the original stack used a straight, thin pipe with a half-round conical top. A note in the specs advises that future engines should use the Radley & Hunter cabbage stack.

Painting instructions depict a black locomotive with silver stripes edged with maroon. Likewise, silver letters and numbers were edged in maroon.
