Nederlandsche Zuid-Ooster 2-4-2 Locomotives in Netherlands

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class Class 1 (Locobase 20476)

Data from "Tank Locomotive, Dutch Rhenish Railway", Engineer, Volume 52, No 4 (22 July 1881), pp. 62, 66. Works numbers were 2928-2931 in 1880.

A year after the first four passenger tanks in the Netherlands were delivered to the Dutch Rhenish railway (Locobase 20475), this octet was built to the same design for the South-Eastern. When the NZO was absorbed by the Staatsporwegen, all eight of this class followed, taking numbers 267-274.

And almost 30 years later, the Nederlandse Spoorwegen grouped them with two of the Rhenish in class 5300. The NS disposed of three of the engines--5302, 5305, and 5307-- in 1925 and the rest in 1930-1934.
