This oil-burning plantation saddle tank engine was headed for 45 lb/yard (22.5 kg/metre) rail, 3% grades and curves with radii as tight as 164 feet (50 m). The hacienda was located just northeast of Lima and less than 10 miles (16 km) from the Pacific Ocean.

In the 1940s, part of the I y C's land was sold to the Peruvian Air Force to establish the Collique Aerodrome.
