Cuzco y Santa Ana 2-6-0 Locomotives in Peru

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 1 (Locobase 15101)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University Volume 64, 99. 183. Works number was 54267-54268 in January 1920.

.Cuzco lies 596 miles (960 km) from Lima, Peru's capital., which highlights the remoteness of the former from most connections. Approved by Peru's Chamber of Deputies on 12 September 1907, this road ran from Cuzco through the Santa Ana valley to the capital of La Convencion Province, Santa Ana. It was later extended past Santa Ana to Quillabamba for a total of 110 km (68 miles).

This little oil-burner traveled on the lightweight 35 lb/yard (17.5 kg/metre), but faced 4% grades and curves with radii of 50 metres (164 feet).
