Ilo a Moquegua 2-6-2 Locomotives in Peru

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class Moquegua (Locobase 13473)

Data from DeGolyer, Volume 32, p. 303. See 13472 for a short history of the I-M. Works number was 32983 in September 1908.

As the I-M rebuilt its infrastructure, it came to Baldwin for another locomotive that was produced a couple of months after the 2-4-0 described in Locobase 13472. This was a bigger engine, although its dimensions still fell well on the small side for a standard-gauge Mogul. On the other hand, its wheel bases stretched well beyond the usual, possibly to reduce axle loading even as the spec called for as much adhesion weight as possible.

When the I-M canceled the Peruvian Corporation's lease at the end of 1915, this engine went to the Tacna & Arica as their 2A.
