Caile Ferate Romane 0-4-2 Locomotives in Romania

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 51-106 (Locobase 1501)

Data from A E Durrant, Locomotives of Eastern Europe (New York: Augustus M Kelley, Publishers, 1966), p 44.

This was the most numerous class of locomotives put in service by the Romanian State Railways upon its opening in 1870. Its wheel arrangement was unusual for freight engines and possibly reflected the relatively light train loads. Before long, heavier and more powerful locomotives arrived.
