Alapiff Mining 0-6-0 Locomotives in Russia

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class unknown (Locobase 14599)

Data from DeGolyer, Volume 60, pp. 1. Works number was 42138-42139 in June 1915.

Although these wood-burners were ordered on 3 May 1915 by Dr Alexie Povzoff [?] of the "Alapiff Mining Company", a note in the Baldwin specs dated 11 June 1916 states that the locomotives would be inspected instead by R W Hunt & Company.

An American entity founded in 1888 by Robert Woolston Hunt, that company specialized in inspection, testing, and consultation. Locobase cannot identify "Alapiff", although that is the exact spelling used in Baldwin's records. (For the first time in all the searches Locobase has requested from Google, that mightiest of search engines returned no usable results for "Alapiff".) He also can't determine what happened to these locomotives, but suspects they were delivered to another customer.
