Data from "Locomotives", Type 78bis, , Usines du Creusot-Schneider et Cie (Creusot: A Temporal, 1875), n.a. Works numbers were 1599-1606 (Type 78), 1613-1617 (Type 78bis) in 1873.

The Ryazan-Vyazma railway ran east-to-west in a 460 km (ca. 285 miles) band just south of Moscow. Locobase doesn't find any significant difference other than weight. The specs show the empty and loaded weights of the Type 78bis. The empty weight for the Type 80 was 29,000 kg (63,934 lb) and loaded 32,500 kg (71,650 kg).
