Russian State 2-8-0 Locomotives in Russia

Class Sh (Locobase 15680)

Data from Russian-language diagram and Wikipedia (Google translation) at [link]

Fitted with a Belpaire firebox, this design was based on the earlier C class and went into series production. The specs represent one of the later batches, which were heavier, but otherwise depict a typical locomotive of the class.

As is often the case with Russian locomotives, photographs understate the size of these engines because of the broad gauge and generous clearances that allowed for quite large locomotives.
