Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 2 (Locobase 537)

Data from Gavin Hamilton's excellent compilation of Garratt data posted at [link] (6 September 2005); and A[rthur] E[dward] Durrant, Garratt Locomotives of the World (revised edition) (Newton Abbott, UK: David & Charles, 1981), p. 143. Works number was 6780 in 1935.

Prairie Garratt (works # 6780) for a mine located in Langlaagte,Transvaal State, Union of South Africa Durrant speculated that the 2 "may have been too powerful"; the CMRM soon sold the engine to New Raleigh Colliery, then by the New Clydesdale Colliery until scrapped in 1978.
