Langreo 0-4-0 Locomotives in Spain

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 1 (Locobase 5598)

Data from [link] (25 June 2003).

The data's a little uncertain. The author says the gauge was 5'2" in Castilian feet and translates that to just a shade over standard gauge at 1,439 mm. The heating surface area is given as 75 sq ft, but is much more likely to be 750 sq ft as shown.

The railway was laid down to move coal from the Nalon coalfields in Asturias. the 8 engines were named Maria Cristina, Jovellanos, Constancia, Jorge Juan, Amparo, Milagros, Riansares, and Villa de Gijon.
