Arenillas says this engine was part of a batch of fifteenlocomotives originally purchased by the Cordoba-Malaga in the date given. Four came from Couillet, four from St. Leonard, and two from Haine St. Pierre. (Three more came from Cail in France.)
Although obtained in the same year as the 2401s (Locobase 3442), this engine, like the later numbered 2504, benefited from a later upgrade that added a larger grate.

Although obtained in the same year as the 2401s (Locobase 3332), this engine benefited from a later upgrade that introduced a longer boiler, which increased its evaporative heating surface, and a larger grate. In addition, nominal boiler pressure increased by 11%.

Justo Arenillas in "Las locomotoras belgas de Andaluces", Lineas Del Tren (as reproduced on [], viewed 28 April 2003). Arenillas says this engine was part of a batch of 15 locomotives originally purchased by the Cordoba-Malaga in the date given. Four came from Couillet, four from St. Leonard, and two from Haine St. Pierre. (three more came from Cail in France.)
In order of their C-M numbers:
Road numbers Builder Year Works numbers
53-56 Couillet 1864 142-145
57-58 Haine Saint Pierre 1864 57-58
59-62 Saint Leonard 1865 227-230
63-67 Schneider (Creusot) 1865 835-839
Arenillas says that another engine -- 120-2061 -- also came from this group, but the RENFE site does not have separate details.
The last five were taken up by the Madrid, Zaragoza y Alicante as their 365-369. Later the Andaluces renumbered the set 163-167. All but 164 were taken into RENFE as 2406-2409. The others were renumbered by the Andaluces by adding a 1 to their original road numbers.
