Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 3 (Locobase 20786)

Data from "Locomotoras de Vapor--Locomotora HVL Nñ 3" on the Centro de Inciativas Ferroviarias--Vapor--Madrid website at [link], last accessed 8 August 2020. Although ordered from Tubize and given works number 1896, but the actual production location was the Blanc Misseron of the Ateliers de Constructions du Nord de la France (ANF), its works number was 168.

The HLV railway connected the colliery at Matallana to the station at Vasco-Leonesa and its junction with the FC La Robla. This little tank wasn't too different from many others, but the CIF account singles out the split smokebox doors (as opposed to the usual side-hinged single door), manual oiliing of the valve gear, and cylinders placed well ahead of the smokebox.

In 1995, the CIFM acquired the 3 for preservation at La Poveda.
