Class Terrible (Locobase 10774)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works, Record of Recent Construction ((1903), No. 31, p. 20-21; and DeGolyer, Volume 24, p. 4. Works numbers were 19356-19359 in August 1901. See Ferropedia's [link] Minera y Metal+rgica de Pe'arroya. for more expansive description of this railway.

The SMMP was chartered in 1881 to serve the lead deposits in Estremadura. In 1893, it took over the Societe Houilliere et Metallurgique de Belmez and in the process greatly added to its resources. It would eventually maintain a monopoly over lead resources.

The line was located north of Cordoma and eventually ran 148 km (92 miles) northeast between Pe'arroya and Puertollano and 68 km (42.2 miles) west to Fuente de Arco. The western section opened first on 26 June 1895.

Teetering on the short wheelbase, this quartet of switchers served the yards of the SMP. Their names derived from a variety of sources, it would seem: Terrible, Santa Elisa, BTlmez, La Vega.
