Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 040-2201 & 040-2211 (Locobase 5524)

Data from [link], the web site of the Spanish National Railway (5 May 2003).

Although delivered in two batches by Cail in 1872 and St Leonard in 1891, these locomotives formed one consecutively numbered class on the Oeste. When RENFE was organized in 1941, however, 8 locomotives were numbered 040-2201/040-2208 and 6 more as 040-2211/040-2216. Note the long boiler, but relatively small firebox.
