Although delivered in two batches by Cail in 1872 and St Leonard in 1891, these locomotives formed one consecutively numbered class on the Oeste. When RENFE was organized in 1941, however, 8 locomotives were numbered 040-2201/040-2208 and 6 more as 040-2211/040-2216. Note the long boiler, but relatively small firebox.
