Cordoba-Malaga 2-4-0 Locomotives in Spain

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 1/2041 (Locobase 15876)

Data from MATERIAL MOTOR RENFE 1947 diagram book posted by carlos lavagoneta arroba and retrieved from Picasa [link], last accessed 1 June 2014. See also [link] . Justo Arenillas in "Las locomotoras belgas de Andaluces", Lineas Del Tren (as reproduced on (reproduced on [link], viewed 28 April 2003) says this engine was part of a batch of twenty locomotives originally purchased by the Cordoba-Malaga.

This was the earlier design with a smaller firebox. See Locobase 3333 for the two RENFE engines of this class that had larger fireboxes.

Class 1/2051/2061 (Locobase 3333)

Data from [link], the web site of the Spanish National Railway. A 2010 table by Fernando Fernandez Sanz gives more details about this group. In order of their C-M numbers:

Road numbers Builder Year Works num

1-2 Haine Saint Pierre 1864 52-53

3-4 Cail 1863 1203-1204

5-6 Evrard 1863 43-44

7-9 Haine Saint Pierre 1864 54-56

10-15 Couillet 1864

139-141, 151-153

16-18 Saint Leonard 1864 231-233

19-20 Evrard 1862 45, 47

5-6 and 19-20 (the Evrards) were taken up by the Madrid, Zaragoza & Alicante as their 109-111, 113 and later renumbered by the Andaluces as 105-106, 119-120. All of the others were renumbered by the Andaluces as 101-04, 107-118.

Only four were taken up by RENFE, including this pair that had a much bigger grate than did the 2041 shown in Locobase 15876.
