Estado 2-6-0 Locomotives in Spain

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class unknown (Locobase 4853)

[link] (visited 6 Jan 2005) says that these Moguls were built to serve a line running from Nador to Tistutin in Spanish Morocco. They were an improved version of Hanomag's Mogul tank, but were the only two to be built by MTM.

The first section -- Nador-Zeluan -- opened in December 1912. Later extensions pushed the railway out 38 km (24 mi) from Nador. This wasn't a very successful branch and it was closed in 1940, with all of its equipment, including probably the two little 2-6-0s, going to the Ceuta-Tetuan line.
