Sociedad General Azucarera de Espa'a 2-6-0 Locomotives in Spain

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 4 (Locobase 14649)

Data from DeGolyer, Vol 60, pp. 311. Works numbers were 53371, 53397 in July 1920.

The SGAE was a sugar trust, a corporation that, at the time these two Moguls were purchased, controlled about 52% of all of Spain's sugar production. Other Locobase entries from this time show that other Spanish industrial concerns bought idential 2-6-0s at this time. A locomotive of the exact design (allowing for gauge differences) was delivered to South Carolina's Pickens Railroad a year earlier (Locobase 14679).
