CEMR 2-6-2 Locomotives in Spain

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 221 (Locobase 4846)

Data from [link] . Works numbers were 17891-17892 in 1920.

This Prairie tank was one of the classes used to exploit Spanish Moroccan iron-ore deposits. These engines () also supported the passenger traffic that ran from Melilla through Nador to Zeluan and to San Juan de las Minas in the 1920s and early 1930s. Minimum curve radius for these side-tanks was 130 m; they were thus less agile than the 2-8-2 tender engines that entered service a year later.
