Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 101/140-2505 (Locobase 3372)

Data from [link], the web site of the Spanish National Railway. See also the history of the Santander-Mediterraneo in the Euroferroviarios blog: [link]. The locomotives were produced in batches in 1927-1929; their works numbers were 175-180, 207-210, 300-311.

The author of the Euroferroviarios entry notes that these Consolidations were of British design, but produced locally at B & W in Galindo Viscayo. 22 were completed for mainlines service of both passenger and freight trains, while four were used for switching. S-M procured an additional boiler to provide parts as well as auxiliary service. It did not have a work number.
