Barcelona-Granollers 4-4-0 Locomotives in Spain

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class Series 9-14 (Locobase 3059)

C. Hamilton Ellis, noted British locomotive authority, credits these six engines as setting the tone for the classic English 4-4-0 with inside cylinders. And the illustration presented in Reder (1974) shows the neat line, tall rounded dome, well-spaced drivers with low running board that would characterize later British engines. Only the closely spaced bogie axles and lack of any footboard protection show their earlier origins.

These were obviously satisfactory engines, to\wo having lasted until 1911.
