Class 16 (Locobase 11331)

Data from Charles Alfred Opperman, Traite Complet des Chemins de Fer Economiques D' Interet Local (Paris: Imprimerie Pillet Fils Aine, 1873), pp.164-165. Builders numbers were 158-161 (1861), 162-165 (1862), and 242-243 (1864)

See Locobase 11157 for a description of Vaessen's radial truck, which allowed the locomotive to negotiate sharper curves and Locobase 11330 for the terrain over which this class of low-drivered freights ran. Among the first to operate Egide Walschaert's gear and fitted with Alfred Belpaire's new firebox design, this design represented some of the best of Belgian locomotive design.

They were bought from St Leonard by for the cost of and named Santo Domingo, Besaya, Ensenada, Velarde, Elero, Pisuerga, 10 de Marzo, and Cuba. The last two to arrive, in 1864, were Renedo and Isabel II.
