Class 110 (Locobase 21238)

Data from "442 Passenger Locomotive with Tender--Soudan [sic] Government Railway", Robert Stephenson & Co catalogue (1922), last accessed in Flickr's Historical Railway Images 29 December 2024. See also Roger Farnworth's extensive commentary and photo research at[], last accessed 29 December 2024. Works numbers were 3383-3386 in 1910.

This pocket Atlantic-type locomotive quartet joined a very limited number of 4-4-2 express passenger locomotives rolling on the metre gauge. Obeying the inherent size limitations of the narrow gauge, they presented similar cylinder volumes, heating surface areas, and driver diameters as the others. A Belpaire firebox heated the boiler water. The cylinder rods extended well forward of the front cover.

HRI's image files shows the 112 ready to depart with the Wadi Halfa (on the northern border) to Khartoum express, which consisted that day of nine carriages.
