Halmstad-Nassjo 4-6-0 Locomotives in Sweden

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class P7/A7 (Locobase 20215)

Data from Litt-A7, one of a series of SJ locomotive diagrams archived by Anders Lundbing on [link], last accessed 10 June 2017 (Snabcon AB advertised its tools for mounting RJ45 connectors on bundled cables.) Works number was 1041 in 1914.

This engine incorporated some of the basic layout and dimensions of the H and H3 classes described in Locobases 20209-20214. Its design, however, introduced a boiler with more tubes each of which was 20 cm longer, slightly tweaked the cylinder volume, and adopted Deeley's variation of the Walschaert radial valve gear. See Locobase 2287 for a description of this valve gear. Piston valves measuring 200 mm (7.9") admitted steam to the cylinders.

(NB: Locobase's specifications show the evaporative heating surface area using the tubes' outer diameter (i.e., the water side).
