Gotthardbahn 2-6-0 Locomotives in Switzerland

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class Ca/Ec 3/4 (Locobase 5127)

Data from [link], last accessed 19 January 2017, (First viewed August 2002). Works numbers were 1865-1872 in 1882.

These had identical boilers and fireboxes to the 0-6-0 tender locomotives built by Esslingen a year earlier (Locobase 5123). The tank engine layout with leading truck was a big change however. These are listed as being in service until 1933.

Class Ec 3/4 (Locobase 5128)

Data from [link], last accessed 19 January 2017, (First viewed August 2002) Works numbers were 332-335 in 1883.

Produced a year later than the Esslingen Mogul tanks (Locobase 5127), these held more water in their side tanks, which accounts for the weight difference in an otherwise identical design.
