Class Reine Berthe (Locobase 15619)

Data from No. 99, Societe Alsacienne de Construction Mecanique of SACM Locomotive book supplied by Dany Machi up at [link] as

Diagrammes des machines SACM construites a GRAFENSTADEN (October 2007). Works numbers were 4516-4518 in 1893.

The second and third locomotives of a standard Mallet tank design were named Olivier and Davel. The 24-km (14.9-mile railway rose 633 m (2,076 feet) from the former town, which lies on the shores of Lake Neuchatel, northwest to the latter town near the interantional border with France.

The three locomotives were later superheated and moved south in 1920 to the Lausanne-Echallens-Bercher railway in the Canton of Vaud (Lausanne lies on Lake Geneva). The 3 was withdrawn from service in 1937, followed by the 1 in 1938. The 2 served another eight years before it was retired in 1946.
