Data from "Railway Notes - Tunis Railway", The Locomotive Magazine, Vol XIII (15 Septermber 1907), p. 156.
The Sfax-Gafsa was opened in 1899 to exploit the large reserves of phosphates and iron in the south. This low-drivered octet of Consolidations featured a rounded dome sited over the leading coupled axle, "trash-can" sandbox over the second coupled axle, Belpaire firebox, inside frame and outside cylinders and valve motion, and semi-enclosed cab.
