Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class Smyrna-Cassaba et Prolong (Locobase 1622)

Data from "2-C-gekuppelte Vierzylinder-Verbund-Schnellzuglokomotive der orientalischen Bahnen", Die Lokomotive, pp. 44-46. See also A[nthony] E[dward] Durrant, The steam loc

Karl Golsdorf designed this class, placing the HP cylinders outside and just ahead of the coupled axles. High-pressure steam came from the steam dome through an external pipe into the steam chest on top of the cylinder. LP cylinders were inside, but the piston valves were outside the frame and between the bogie axles.

Originally supplied to Smyrna-Cassaba et Prolonguements (SCP) in two batches -- four in 1900 from Wiener Neustadt, six from Maffei in 1909-1910. Taken into TCDD in 1934 as 35.001-009.
