Data from B&M 8 - 1919 Loco Class supplied in May 2005 by Allen Stanley from his extensive Rail Data Exchange. See also Harry A Frye, Minuteman steam: Boston & Maine steam locomotives, 1911-1958 (Littleton, MA : Boston and Maine Railroad Historical Society, 1982). Works numbers were 2617-2619 in February 1891.
These Forney tanks were named for Governors (the second was called Governor Carver and the third Governor Winthrop). They provided bi-directional power for commuter trains out of Boston, probably on the Medford Branch.
All were renumbered, taking 47-49 in 1911. They were soon retired in October 1913, November 1913, and November 1914, respectively.
