Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 1 (Locobase 15039)

Data from Roy V Wright (Ed.) 1912 Locomotive Cyclopedia of American Practice, Sixth Edition (New York: Simmons-Boardman Publishing Company, 1912), p. 160. See also the ICC's Industrial Railways Case in Interstate Commerce Commission Reports: Reports and Decisions of ... , Vol 29 -- January 1914 to March 1914 (Washington., DC: Government Printing Office, 1914), pp. 286-288. Works numbers were 48350-48351 in July 1910.

High-boilered saddle tank engines bought by MA Hanna & Company that operated in Columbiana County, Ohio. Their owner was incorporated in January 1910 to take over the railroad of the United Iron & Steel Company. At that time, the line consisted of 4 1/2 miles of yard tracks and sidings, to which the L&CVRR added 1.6 miles of new track. All of it served the steel mill, connecting with the Erie at both ends of its lines and with the Pennsylvania at the western end.
