2-2-0 "Planet" Locomotives in the USA

This was an inversion of the Rocket type (0-2-2). Its name comes from the name of the first example in 1830: Robert Stephenson's Planet.

B&O (Mount Clare), 1927Replica named Tom Thumb. Had been restored to operating condition by the Strasburg Rail Road for the 2004 "Fair of the Iron Horse." It was operated only a few times, the last being around Christmas 2013, then placed on display inside the roundhouse.
