Bellingham Bay & Eastern 2-4-0 "Porter" Locomotives in the USA

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class H-5 (Locobase 8153)

Data from 1944 Northern Pacific Locomotive Diagram book supplied in May 2005 by Allen Stanley from his extensive Rail Data Exchange. Works numbers was 1261 in April 1879.

Locobase doesn't have much information about this unusual locomotive. Larry Schrenk's NP list -- found on [link] -- says that it operated at one point on the Willamette Valley & Coast. To Locobase the front carrying axle appears to have been added on after delivery as it was located well ahead of the smokebox.

NB: The direct heating surface (including the firebox heating surface) is an estimate calculated by subtracting the calculated tube heating surface from the reported total evaporative heating surface.
