Hebard Cypress Company 2-4-4 Locomotives in the USA

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class Frederick (Locobase 11091)

Data from Logging Locomotives 1913 (Philadelphia, Pa: Baldwin Locomotive Works, 1913), p 6. See also DeGolyer, Volume 45, p. 10. Works number was 33531 in July 1909.

Compared to the 2-6-0 shown in Locobase 14033, this Hebard Cypress wood-burning Forney (what Baldwin called a "four-coupled double-ender") was a good deal smaller and of the proportions associated with lightly built tram roads. In fact, the engine operated in Pequaming, Mich to move logs for cutting into wood for automobile bodies.
