(Thanks to Chris Hohl for his 13 August 2020 email noting the 10's coal capacity.) Works number was 44231 in October 1916.
Operated on the largest two-foot gauge railroad in US, the SR&RL in Maine.
Heaviest locomotive ever operated on the SR&RL and fitted with outside Walschaert valve gear squeezed under the running board.
After the SR & RL ceased operations in 1932, the 10 lingered in storage until it was scrapped in June 1935.
The Brecon Mountain Railway in the UK began building a duplicate based on Baldwin's original drawings. By 2013, they described the effort as "well advanced" to the point that construction of the boiler would begin in 2014.
Data from [] (reviewed 13 Feb 2004) and 1934 Maine Central locomotive tables supplied by Allen Stanley in May 2005 from his extensive Rail Data Exchange and Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University, Volume 30, p. 277. (Thanks to Chris Hohl for his 13 August 2020 email correcting the coal capacity.) Works numbers were 31826 in September 1907 and 33550 in July 1909.
Operated on the largest two-foot gauge railroad in US, the SR&RL in Maine.
#9 slightly heavier at 56,750 lb (25,741 kg) and fitted with a boiler having 55 sq ft (5.11 sq m) of direct heating surface and a total of 567 sq ft (52.67 sq m)..
