Central Lafayette 2-6-0 "Mogul" Locomotives in the USA

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 5 - 1926 (Locobase 15419)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University Vol 79, pp 52+. Works number was 60642 in September 1928.

Although this bore the same number as the 1912 locomotive shown in Locobase 1418, its specs say that "as many parts as possible" were to be interchangeable with the earlier locomotive. As often happened, this later locomotive of the same design weighed considerably more than the earlier one. According to the specs, grades on this railway were relatively gentle at no more than 1 1/4%, but the tightest curves had radii of 95 feet (29 metres).
